There are three crucial things that Rick Astley is never gonna do. He will never give you up, he will never let you down, and he will also never run around and desert you. However, he did one thing that many people will be more than happy to hear — recreate the music video from his iconic ‘80s track more than 30 years later.
Rick Astley Is Back!
Rick Astley isn’t the only one to credit for this video, which we didn’t realize we needed until it was made available to us. To begin with, Astley and everyone else who was instrumental in the creation of the updated edition of the production.
When the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” was first made available to the public in 1987, it was accompanied by a music video in which a young Rick Astley, then 21 years old, could be seen shimmying and shaking along to the lyrics in a variety of settings. After being uploaded to YouTube one year ago, the video has accumulated a total of one billion views, and the fact that it has received an additional two million views in the past thirteen months demonstrates that it is still quite popular.
It should come as no surprise, therefore, that CSAA Insurance Group had confidence in selecting a song that was 35 years old when it came up with a fresh advertisement for its company, and happily, Astley was on board to recreate the video at the age of 56.
Oh, the Nostalgia…
The singer performs his dancing steps against a variety of backdrops, much as in the original, and he also brings back some of his sleek ensembles, such as a long beige mac coat and a matching blue shirt and trousers combination, complete with sunglasses.
There are some advertisements for CSAA insurance scattered throughout the video, but regardless of whether you’re considering becoming a client of theirs or not, you can’t help but have a good time watching it.
The announcement of the recreation has been met with excitement among Astley fans. One of them wrote: “Seeing Rick Astley as an old man — dancing and singing ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ and looking genuinely happy to perform and recreate his old music video may be one of the most wholesome things I’ve ever seen.”
